The Brooklyn Short Film Festival brings together the world’s best short films in an engaging atmosphere for the purpose of developing connections and building new relationships in the film industry.

Launched with the purpose of forging strong connections between established industry professionals and talented up-and-comers, Brooklyn Shorts recognizes the value of terrific short-form storytelling as a method of inviting fresh voices into a global, cinematic dialogue. It all begins in Brooklyn, where countless creative innovators have sharpened their skills and found their footing.

Brooklyn Shorts events are held in the trendy DUMBO neighborhood at the Galapagos Art Space, one of New York’s leading arts institutions. The festival stands at the forefront of short-form filmmaking and is proud to promote many of the field’s shining stars against a backdrop rich with media opportunities and industry visibility. It’s no wonder that several films celebrated at Brooklyn Shorts have subsequently secured financing for development into feature-length scripts and productions.

Cash and other prizes are awarded to filmmakers who best display a full command of their craft and story. Films celebrated at Brooklyn Shorts have ranged from compelling projects starring A-List talent like Kenneth Branagh to low-budget, independent documentaries shot in the corners of Africa. The festival recognizes that great stories can come from anyone, anywhere.
